Powering the Guangdong-Macau New Channel Border Post

FG Wilson provides Short Term Operating Reserve (STOR) to protect the National Grid during power surges

FG Wilson gensets are installed in various applications around the globe, providing power that makes life easier for people!  Our dealer, Asia Pacific Power Electric (APPE), have been involved in a project to provide over 6000 kVA of critical backup power to support a border crossing checkpoint linking Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) and the mainland’s Guangdong Province.

Operating 24/7 the new border clearance facility, known as Qingmao Checkpoint, is located in Zhuai City in Guangdong and spans an area of approx. 140,000 square metres. With a capacity to handle 200,000 people daily, passenger clearance takes only 20 seconds and will ensure a convenient, efficient and orderly flow of personnel across the border. The self service customs clearance is expected to effectively ease the customs clearance pressure on the nearby Border Gate Checkpoint.

Speaking about the project James Lau, APPE Chief Executive Officer said: “We are privileged to be associated with this critical project. Our team installed four FG Wilson gensets providing 4180 kVA in Macau and 2000 kVA to provide  emergency power supply in Zhuhai”.
