Satisfying the Scottish Government’s new power needs

DTGen, our FG Wilson dealer in Scotland, has been awarded a contract with the Scottish Government to replace the existing 500 KvA generator sets in the East and West plantrooms of Victoria Quay building with two new FG Wilson P1500P3 generator sets.

Victoria Quay is a Scottish Government building situated in LeithEdinburgh. The building was constructed between 1996-1999 on redeveloped dockland and housed part of, what was then known as, the Scottish Office. 2,200 civil servants now work at Victoria Quay making it the Scottish Government's largest building, both in terms of size and occupancy.  Such significant renovations and restructuring work in the building also meant an upgrade was needed to the existing standby power system.

As the new FG Wilson generator sets were much bigger than the ones previously installed, significant structural work had to be carried out to allow the sets to be installed where the smaller sets were originally located. In addition, the plantrooms themselves required considerable redesign and rework to ensure the correct airflow and attenuation of 85 dba @ 1 Metre was achieved.  DTGen was also asked to repurpose the existing 20,000 litres tanks, which involved cleaning, testing and adding bund alarms and fill point cabinets, to meet PPG2 guidance. The benefits from repurposing these tanks was twofold; by minimising on waste it resulted in an environmentally friendly solution and it saved the client considerable costs. 

DTGen also delivered full preventative maintenance and remedial works to their client using genuine FG Wilson parts to ensure maximum lifecycle return and performance.
